Our certification program is designed to offer you timely, relevant, and expert guidance and knowledge in the industry you engage with daily. This certification is widely recognized at a national level and remains valid for five years.

The tuition fee covers 16 hours of required education, along with a CPO book, informative handouts, exam, and certification fees. To become certified, students are required to pass with a minimum of 74% on the exam consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions.

Class Options

Two-Day In-Person Certification Class

Metro: $385 – Non-Metro: $395

  • Schedule: Class starts promptly at 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the first day, please bring a valid photo ID. On the second day, there will be an open book exam.
  • Lunch: An hour lunch break is included, please note lunch will not be provided.
  • Material: Textbook and handouts will be provided on the day of the class. We strongly recommend that you bring material for notetaking. For testing purposes, bring a pencil and calculator. Please be aware that using your phone’s calculator during the test is strictly prohibited.

Two-Day Online Certification Class

$385

We offer limited online classes throughout the year. We encourage you to sign up promptly, as online class slots tend to fill up quickly.

  • Schedule: One week before class begins, you can expect to receive a welcome message from your instructor. Additionally, a follow up email containing the Zoom link will be sent to you the day before class. Class starts promptly at 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a one-hour lunch break included. On the second day, there will be a 3-hour open-book exam.
  • Material: The CPO handbook and handouts will be shipped approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the class. These materials will be sent to the address provided on your registration form. We strongly recommend that you have material for note-taking: notebook, pen, and pencil. You will need to bring a calculator with you. Please be aware that using your phone’s calculator during the test is strictly prohibited.

One-Day Re-Certification Class

To be eligible for this class, participants must hold a valid certificate. A copy of the certificate must be provided upon registration.

Retest

Participants who failed a two-day seminar may enroll for a retest on the second day of any two-day course with the original instructor.

Why should you get certified?

  • It is expected that pool operators to keep themselves informed about the updated pool/spa operating codes, as these regulations are subject to frequent changes by the State.
  • Skilled operators face a challenge when maintaining and operating older pools with limited funds and resources, as these pools tend to be less efficient.
  • New pools with unique designs require specialized maintenance and operation practices. The increasing number of water features has resulted in a higher demand for trained operations for technical expertise.
  • Through effective training, facilities can be operated more efficiently, leading to significant budget savings.
